My Day - #130-131

Today it is enough to rest in God's arms and know that He is all I need.  I am so thankful He is always with me.  (#130-131)

My Day - #123-129

The day started earlier than usual with an important meeting in the city.  Angelica drove me there and Miracle accompanied us.  Then we came home and napped.  All three of us.  We needed to go to the grocery store but pushed it off one more day.  After napping, Angelica went to her last class of the quarter and I went downstairs to watch the girls.  Busy Bee played and colored and watched tv.  Doc walked home from school and then did homework.  The picture below is one of the ways I made homework a bit more fun this evening.  Then we watched The Prince of Egypt.  Doc is learning about realistic fiction in school and asked if that was what the movie is.  I explained that the movie is based on a biblical truth but the director took some creative licence and elaborated to fill in some blanks not covered in the Bible.  She found that intriguing.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  In this case, I'd say 22 is a more accurate number.  ;)

I am thankful that I was healthy enough to attend today's meeting (#123) and that Angelica was available to drive me there. (#124) I am thankful that I was able to nap for a few hours. (#125) I really enjoyed watching the little girls. (#126) I am thankful for the opportunity to teach Doc the things of God (#127), that she absorbs everything like a little sponge (#128), and that I am not alone in teaching her these things as her mother also loves the LORD (#129).

Miracle's Spring Recital and My Day - #115-122

I missed posting the verse yesterday... I'm a little behind on memorizing anyway.  (I'm still working on John 1:14.)  If you are looking for the verse, don't forget to check out Ann Voskamp's blog this Wednesday.  We had a very busy day.  Well, sort of.

Yesterday started with Angelica heading to church alone because I was too sick to go.  Then Miracle had a recital and I learned a long time ago that sick or not I will make the effort to show up to these things.  I missed one when the girls were 8 & 9 and it made me so sad for so long that I vowed to never miss another if I had a choice.  So, Angelica drove us back into the city for Miracle's recital.  She performed beautifully.  ( #115) I am so thankful that she has had the opportunity to study under the tutelage of Rachel Scott these past few months.  (#116)

This morning, I was still sick although not as bad.  I rested, went to an appointment, talked with Angelica's coach and then came home to babysit for Angelica so that she could skate some more.  I am thankful that she is able to skate again (#117) and that she has a coach.  (#118)  After Angelica arrived and took over her job, I was able to come home and rest for the remainder of the evening.

I am so blessed.  I have a warm home.  (#119)  I have friends and family that I love and that loves me.  (#120)  I have two beautiful daughters who are growing into amazing young ladies eager to serve God.  (#121)  I have a good church home.  (#122)  God is truly good to me.

A Look Back - October 2013

The girls went to a costume party in late October.  Angelica was dressed as Periwinkle, Tinkerbell's ice skating sister.  Miracle went as a shadow.

Randomness

I saw this on fb and tried to pin it, but apparently fb doesn't play well with others... you can post to fb from pinterest but not the other way around.  I want to remember it, so here it is.  Pin away!

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR MATTRESS:

Pour about 1 cup of baking soda into a Mason jar & drop in 4 drops of lavender essential oil. Put on lid & shake jar. Using a kitchen strainer, sprinkle the baking soda mixture all over the mattress & let it sit for an hour or more. Thoroughly vacuum the mattress. Bye, bye dust mites, & other nasty things. The baking soda helps draw up any moisture & deep dirtiness. It deodorizes & leaves the mattress smelling fresh & clean.

And then I saw this.

Solar light attached to upside down clay pot adds inexpensive lighting to your porch and yard! Great for camping!!

I haven't tried either one, but they seem straight forward enough.  If any of you try them out and find they do or don't work, please let me know.  :)

In other news, Angelica's skates came in the mail today. (#109) To say that she is excited is a HUGE understatement!  She has been itching to get back on the ice.  She made the decision last spring, got a job as soon as we were home from Our Grand Adventure, and saved all of her earnings until she had the money to buy the skates.  I am thankful that she has learned money management and the value of hard work. (#110)

Also, she took me in to the city for physical therapy today and while I was there, she went to buy a pair of shoes she had been wanting for prom.  They had been on clearance so she was concerned that they wouldn't be there.  Not only were they still there, she got an extra 20% off because of the generosity of a stranger!  (#111) A few weeks ago, we bought her dress for $25 through a fund raising event for a local homeless shelter.  What a blessing!  Both to be blessed and get such a beautiful dress for so little money (#112) and to be a part of a bigger picture that contributes to the care of the homeless in our community.  (#113)

And just because it made me smile... the humidity between the glass in our living room windows created the shape of a ghost.  It made me think of Busy Bee's newest English word.  She will say "pookeee" and act scared before bursting into giggles.  Anything that makes me smile is something to be thankful for.  (#114)

My Day - # 102-108

Today I am breathing in and breathing out.  On purpose.  Breathe in.  Breathe out.  I can't put here why, but it has been a hard day.  I am thankful for the perspective I gained a few years ago and that this day wasn't on any level as difficult as that day.  (#102 & 103)  I am thankful that I learned so much then about concussion management and brain injury.  It makes navigating these waters easier.  (#104)  I am thankful we were able to watch figure skating again tonight.  (#105)  I am especially glad to hear Angelica vocalize her dreams of going to the Olympics again.  (#106)  After the competition was over she said, "I wonder who I'll be competing against in South Korea."  Yes, I wonder.  I am glad that both of my girls still like to spend time with me and together as a family.  (#107)  I'm still just sick enough that I'm not accomplishing a lot, but it is enough.  The realization that whatever I accomplish is enough for a given day.  Finally having that understanding is nice.  (#108)

My Day - #98-101

Today was a good day.  I can't really put my finger on why, but I am content.  That's a good feeling.  (#98) We enjoyed watching ladies figure skating and it's exciting to see all three ladies from the US in the final 12.  (#99)  I have reconnected with several people in my extended framily! Even with all the sad news shared that we have missed over the past few years, it still feels good to know she/they are still able to be a part our lives. (#100)  Today was also calm.  Calm is always good.  (#101)
